Common Questions 1. How old do I have to be? We offer classes for boys and girls ages 4 and up. 2. Can my child try a free class? Yes, Call or e-mail us and we will be glad to set up a time for your child to try a free class. All you need to attend in a comfortable tee shirt & shorts. Socks are fine to try a class or you can wear ballet shoes if you have them. 3. How do I register my child or myself? We accept registration year round!!!!! Just Call us at 4. When is tuition due? Tuition is due the first day of each trimester. Classes run from September-June. We also offer a summer session. 5. Is there a dress code? Yes, students will be required to wear a KA tee-shirt or tank top and KA shorts or leggings. Please No Jeans! KA Apparel will be ordered in October and April. New students can wear inexpensive black ballet slippers that can be purchased at Payless or Wal-Mart. Hair needs to be up, pulled back away from the face. Students in class II & III are required to were poodle socks and gillies. Boys wear black jazz shoes. Our vender for Irish dance shoes is Fay’s shoes. Irish dance shoes must be very tight as they will stretch. Speak with Miss Nicole before ordering your first pair of shoes. 6. What should I bring to class? A water bottle with your child’s name written on it, your dance shoes and a bag to carry them in. Kildare Academy bags will be ordered in October and April. 7. What if I miss a class? Classes can be made up at any of our other locations in a comparable level class, within 30 days. Any questions or concerns about make-ups please contact Miss Nicole. 8. Do I have to be Irish? NO!! At the Kildare Academy we encourage students from all backgrounds. 9. In case of bad weather how do I find out if class is canceled? Class closures or any other news information can be found on our website at www.KildareAcademy.com. In case of bad weather you can also call us directly at 10. Does my dancer have to compete? No! The Kildare Academy caters to students who want to compete in feisanna as well as those who want to dance just for fun! Miss Nicole will be there to guide and support dancers that wish to compete. There are also many wonderful activities held throughout the year for dancers to participate in that do not require competition. Costumes are required if a dancer decides to compete or participate in our end of the year school dance. The basic KA costume for girls consists of a pink leotard and black skirt, the approximate cost is $80 and it can be worn many times. Boy’s attire consists of black pants, a black button down shirt and green tie. 12.
